is that we have pithy poems peddled
from every continent on the planet
except
(for the pedantic Pats)
the un-colonised polar caps

in a shaded nook
of a popular pub
we’re now the hub
of purple prose for the proletariat;

from Cleethorpes to Cairo
from Raith to Rotorua;

from Belfast to Belize
from Chester to Chukotka;

from Dingwall to Douala
from York to Yukon;
