to the adrenaline fueled stadiums,
not confined to the premiership greats,
football is truly that grassroots escape,
3 and in out on the concrete,
kickabouts with your mates.

a product of the rich and powerful,
not just an asset in which to invest.
football is freedom,
to play, to express,
to strive and to thrive to be your best.

the ones no one ever forgets,
football is Rene Huiguita’s scorpion king,
is Gordon Banks thwarting Pele,
Jennings scoring from his own goal,
we all know the kind of thing.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 football is all the joy and all the sorrow,
the frenzied celebrations,
and the head-in-hands despair,
football is the fight at the death,
the goal-mouth scramble,
football comes to those who dare.

apparently the shot that lead to the infamous scorpion king was offside anyway, doubt Higuita knew that though!
