B is for Ball, only one is allowed
C is for Cards, either yellow or red
D is for Defend, with feet, body and head
E is for Enjoyment, when our team wins a game
F is for Fans, supporting our team is the aim
G is for Goalkeeper, whose job is stopping a shot
H is for Hands, which he uses a lot
I is for Injury time, added on at the end
J is for Jumpers, used for goalposts with friends
K is for Kick-off, in the middle of the park
L is for Lights, when games are played in the dark
M is for Manager, when we’ve won he’s adored
N is for Net, where we hope goals are scored
O is for One-touch passing, exciting the crowd
P is for Penalty, when a free shot is allowed
Q is for Quick, players get faster each year
R is for Referee, who can reduce fans to tears
S is for Scarf, worn proudly away and at home
T is for Team, one you choose as your own
U is for Upset, when big teams lose to small
V is for Volley, a sweet strike of the ball
W is for Wembley, the home of football they say
X is for X-ray, to check if bones are ok
Y is for Yes, which we shout when we score
Z is for Zzzzz, when we’ve watched a bore draw
