For the day that’s in it

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Roses are red
Violets are blue
God – please give us points
We’ll even take two!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Noses are red
And the air turns blue
This is all the thanks I get
For loving you

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Veins bulge red
Toes’s turn blue
As I fret and freeze
While watching you!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Shirts are red
Up against my beloved blue
But whatever the result
I’ll stick to my venerated hue

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Although, we have had shirts of red
And socks of green
But for away days only
Were they ever seen

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So on a day, where prose is read
And an ultraviolet bulb blew
If I was to declare undying love for another
It just wouldn’t be true!

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Roses are red
Violets are blue
Hang on a second …
That just doesn’t make sense

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Not where rose, in my vocabulary
Is the past tense of risen
The verb that meets the cross
Pumped or driven

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Nor where in my lexicon
Violets
Is violence mis-pronounced
A scourge that impinges on our beautiful game
When it arrives unannounced

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 But maybe …
Match reports could be read
And villainy blown away (or blew)
Now that would be a lovely Valentine scenario
At least for me (if not for you!)

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Red rose
Higher than blue
Met the cross
Sweet and true

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Green groped
But couldn’t reach
The net bulged
What a peach!

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 Rhodes readied
And Violet swooned
“Europe here we come”
The victors crooned!
