He’s lost a yard of pace;
but where? And what became of it?
How careless.
Maybe it scampers
still in the distant corner of the training
ground in short, breathless bursts.
Is it gaining
on other lost yards,
scoring firsts
in races that hamper
its ambitions of relocation?
In the modern world, will it
fare less
for not being metric?
