1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 when the trains have all been cancelled
during peak time to the match
and some weird bloke’s wearing sandals
in mid-winter, is he mad?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 when it’s freezing cold the morrow
and yer breathe is candy floss
then you note with shock and horror
that yer winger cannot cross

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 when the bovril’s stuck at bottom
and hot water’s all you’ve got
and the programmes says he’s playing
but you know full well he’s not

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 when the “full up” signs are showing
and you’ve just come off the train
and you turn round full well knowing
that next year you’ll come again

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 when the view across a sandy pitch
is limited and poor
do you sit there in yer pricey plastic seat
satisfied and sure

at dead on allotted hour
it’d better had, you’ve come two hundred miles
to get behind this blimmin shower

goals for fun, injures himself pre-match
do you laugh and make a joke of it
whilst inside? yer seething mad

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 when expensive stars turn out in gloves
do you yell “what’s all that about”?
whilst us mere punters freeze for love
just to standing there, to sing our songs and shout

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 when you’re sitting in a service station
far away from home
searching for that one salvation
‘please get us a goal’

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 when the motorway’s awash with scarves
do you somehow then feel right
for getting up to meet yer mates
long before daylight

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 when yer on a coach that’s full of blokes
and birds who’ve got the call
does the ridicule that all true fans endure,
hurt your feelings? not at all

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Or would you rather blag a freebie
With a fading fake tanned bee gee?
At least I know where I would rather be!
