I clean my boots
After each and every game.
Scrape and scrub
Both, and each the same.

I make such an effort
Because, to be fair,
I must compensate for being
Such a dirty player.

You see, when I clean
It’s not just mud;
It’s bits of skin,
And bone and blood.
