When the Thames ran by our street
Black and white telly was just in vogue
The Germans had been beat

On the way to Hampton Court and Kew
The stench coming off the river
Would almost make you spew

As Bobby Moore held cup aloft
A new idol had been born
A working class boy could
Still reach the top despite
A class system so forlorn

Became a new pastime
To try and emulate the boys
We’d play it all the time
