And this port of undisturbed dreams
rebuilt her most precious mould
and upon your distinguished shoulders
placed the hope, the faith, the love
of her children,
and the man
with his granite confidence
beating like a pulse
beneath the benevolent smile
furnished history
without bias
without bells
without whistles
and brought the glory
home to us
whilst the nation turned
its hollow heart away.
