Meet Pete

Pete’s alright, likes a laugh, nice guy,
Pete loves his kids, likes his wife,
Pete’s a joiner- doesn’t enjoy it but it pays just enough,
Pete saves up his spare pay for matchday,
Pete spends a day’s pay on Saturday,

Pete might not be bright,
but Pete makes the most of life,
Pete’s no alcoholic but he likes a pint at night,
Pete’s an angry rambler but sometimes he’s right,
Pete’s no gambler, but he’s no stranger to an optimistic wager,
Pete’s no hooligan, but he has a bit of banter with opposition fans,

Pete’s a handyman, family man, top man,
Pete’s a big football fan, great to have around at the ground,
Pete loves seeing his team at the end of the week,
Pete’s loved football since he was a boy,
Pete went to every game, home and away, for ages,

I don’t see Pete in a seat beside, behind or beneath me anymore,
I see Pete at the bar ranting about the latest rise in sky high prices,
Now ticket prices have gone up even more, Pete can’t afford,
Pete can’t afford to support his local football club,
Pete’s a loyal supporter, Pete’s not a customer.
