Merlin’s Lost His Magic
¶ 1

The spells have gone wrong, his wand is not working;
We need some inspiration from somewhere, anywhere.
Putting in a shift and running hard for ninety minutes
Doesn’t actually score you goals – them things that lot
Down the road keep getting. Competence isn’t enough,
We need more than just that – a creator, a taker; please.
The punters are getting restless, the magician in danger
Of losing his powers. And it all seemed so promising in
August – before a ball was kicked. So bring us back on
Track, Mick. Ditch your favourites who don’t perform,
Look beyond ex-Mackems and Ireland – there’s a world
Out there. Before the owner makes you history, and we
Have to climb that greasy promotion pole all over again…
