When we passed the church at Broadbottom
the statue would be chanting and waving its arms
in the air “C’mon you Blues”.
We thought it strange when we drove back,
it was still punching the air and we’d lost.

Now it’s arms have been nicked and
there are rumours of pentangles and gatherings
of guys dressed all in black. A bit suspicious
like the African Cup of Nations and muti,
but we have won three in a row.
