They could have lazed in their bed,
Played on the smart phone instead,
Had a big mac to be fed.
But one early Saturday,
To a field they made their way,
No time for fun or to play.
To run five miles not for fame,
But raise money was their aim,
For disabled and the lame.
Every step they would stride,
Meant someone was on their side,
To ease pain they could not hide.
Those teenage lads did them proud,
And we should applaud aloud,
That they stood out from the crowd.
Sunday morning stay in bed.?.
Football game to play instead,
Looking forward, not in dread.
Rains non stop throughout the match,
Keanest rivals on their patch,
Win four nil, the game to snatch.
We deride the teenage years,
But these young lads showed their peers,
With those boys we have no fears.
