Pele’s Poem

I could smell the hot dogs,
I could see the yellow card being shown,
I felt like I would groan.
I could hear my manager moan,
I could hear the whistle,
I wish I played for Partick Thistle.
I tugged the other player’s shirt,
I won the ball,
I chipped it up and volleyed it in the goal.
I could taste the water and the Jaffa Cakes,
I heard my gaffer say ,“I’ll kill you with rakes!”
In the second half they equalised so we went into extra time.
The opposition had chances but we wouldn’t let them score,
Our team lashed out with a deafening roar,
I scored in the last second while Barca cried in vain,
West Ham United won the Champions League, once again.
