Recycling With Rhythm!

I did my bit
To help the world today
I picked up some litter
That the grown-ups had dropped
I chose not to graffitti on the undergound
When that woman pushed past me without
Stopping to see if I was ok
I didn’t give in to rage
And race after her demanding apologies
Or something…

I did my bit
To help the world today
I ate food grown organically
I used recycled toilet paper
And tried not to think about where
It had been first
I took our used cola bottles
To the bottle bank in town
And tried not to ponder too long
On the exploitation done behind the name
Of corporate logos and
Designer labels…

I did my bit
To help the world today
I walked to the ground
To watch the Rovers
Coughed and spluttered
Shivered and dodged
The fumes and plumes of pollution
All in the name of football and peace
And a future worth living for
And a planet free of petrol and diesel
Yeah i’m for all that, and the fact me dad’s car broke down
Had a bit to do with it too!
