Clinging to this rocky edge
Two others beside me holding on
How did we end up on this fragile ledge?
Where in our season did it go wrong?
Our fingers slowly lose their grip
Our faces tell the story
Our rivals’ boots smash down on our tips
We plummet and leave the glory.

We fall together with no parade
Exposed as we fall through the air
How will we take a fresh tirade
From cocky opponents awaiting down there?
Think about how we’ll land
And how we are going to cope
Bones will be broken but will we stand?
Promotion is our major hope.

Now we must work no time for fun
Amongst the ones we mocked last year
We must hate and fight everyone
We must not stick around here
We know we’re much too good for this
Look up that’s where we belong
Hope that our strikers will forget how to miss
Someday we will be on song.
