It was City at home not a thought in your head
Saturday morning it’s bacon and toast

Force 6 from off the North Sea scours your face
Wildly fart-arsing in acres of space
Ee man can we play have you got any fags?
It’s Maureen and Nancy the Whitley Bay slags

Why is it these birds always go round in two’s
It’s so one can declare “ee my friend fancies you’s”
Though Billy-boy’d find them a couple of bores
[Man Nancy’s aal reet but I don’t fancy yours]

Around about one-ish it’s time to get back
The train’s in the station and clickety-clack
Trundle through Manors and over the points
Half an hour’s drink-up at one of those joints

Off to the ground in a strong cavalcade
Tall ones and small ones and no one afraid
Backs of the jackets and feet on the move
This is the big one there’s something to prove

Up concrete stairways and over the lip
Sound swells around you now you’re in its grip
United! United! the terraces sway
With 55,000 remember this day!
