Remember a Day

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Remember a day when you got out of bed
It was City at home not a thought in your head
Saturday morning it’s bacon and toast
Meet at the station and gan down the coast

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Empty compartment hey let’s kick the ball
Gosforth and Backworth Monkseaton and all
Tide’s out so knock it around on the sand
It’s just paradise California land

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Force 6 from off the North Sea scours your face
Wildly fart-arsing in acres of space
Ee man can we play have you got any fags?
It’s Maureen and Nancy the Whitley Bay slags

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Why is it these birds always go round in two’s
It’s so one can declare “ee my friend fancies you’s”
Though Billy-boy’d find them a couple of bores
[Man Nancy’s aal reet but I don’t fancy yours]

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Around about one-ish it’s time to get back
The train’s in the station and clickety-clack
Trundle through Manors and over the points
Half an hour’s drink-up at one of those joints

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Off to the ground in a strong cavalcade
Tall ones and small ones and no one afraid
Backs of the jackets and feet on the move
This is the big one there’s something to prove

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Up concrete stairways and over the lip
Sound swells around you now you’re in its grip
United! United! the terraces sway
With 55,000 remember this day!
