Shouting, staring all at me,
Hurtful language, please let me be.
Over nothing, what have I done?
Why should my colour stop me having fun?

Racist comments always being made,
Awful behaviour being displayed.
Can’t you see I want to get on with my life?
I can’t, I’m too scared, scared of that knife.
Someone, somewhere must feel the same,
Many people just think it’s a game.

Try as I may I can’t get away,
Here I am, I’m here to stay.
Everywhere a staring face,

Right or left, there’s no hiding place.
Echoes of voices whisper in my head,
Desperate measures, would I be better off dead?

Change this life, I want to get away,
Anywhere, any place, any time, any day.
Racist people they gave me no choice,
Death at my door… no one heard my voice.
