Some Neck

My wife went in hard with a tackle,
And took a bad blow to the neck.
And the crowd went quite still,
Though the score was three nil,
As she lay in a crumpled-up wreck.

They carted her off in an ambulance,
And they placed her in intensive care.
And when the game ended
[The result was quite splendid]
I paid her a visit up there.
¶ 3

It wasn’t as bad as they’d dreaded,
Though they did all the tests just in case.
Her neck was stiff, for
It was bruised and quite sore,
So they made her put on a white brace.
¶ 4

So she went to the physiotherapist,
And she did everything that he said.
Then she came home to say
She was leaving that day –
I guess that he turned her sweet head.
