Even better than return of the mack
He is among us
Danny Carr Danny Carr has come back
Can’t blame him for leaving
Even if it was for the grim north
But now he’s in pink n blue again
Let the tsunami of goals pour forth
No pressure on him really
But his last season with us
We smashed the league below
A signing that shows in Gav we should all truss’
He’s booked in titanic goalies
Staunch defenders and midfielders alike
Now we have a rip-roarin’ and goalscorin’ striker
Our goal tally will surely spike
Optimism is opium for the supporter
Always tilting at leagues and a cup
Each signing we’ve made is an improvement
Whisper it but we are on the up
Now there’s 3 more season’s mileage
On this classic Carr
And thanks to him we’re a league higher
But now we’ve got back our bright star
His goals will leave us astounded
A special K or more of new fans to see him
Champion Hill is a lot more crowded
Time to conduct this new choir
Praise our chosen one
We’ll all serenade hymne
Bellow out for our prodigal Hamlet son
All together now

This is the first of the poems i’ll be sharing here. I’m a poetry virgin and i was shown the way by Dulwich Poet and I have him to thank for installing a love of writing. Well, i have him to thank. You lot that read this have him to curse!

So this poem is homage to Danny Carr, a player that we sold several seasons back after his goals helped us to the Isthmian League Division 1 south title. We’ve just got him back and we’re all buzzing. I was moved to write this poem about him and abut how it made us all feel. I hope you like it.
