Super Red Takes Over Emirates Stadium

We couldn’t do it on the football pitch
but then we wouldn’t want to evoke
another touchline tantrum from Monsieur Whinger,
wouldn’t want him to blot the good name
of the Beautiful Game, so we let ’em win,
just to keep the peace, let ourselves be fleeced.
We’d sent our agent in months before
to deck the deserted Emirates stands:
the flapping colours of the Scouse Empire
told the story then: this space was ours.
