Us disciples are somewhat embarrassed
On hearing the just breaking news
The once lauded, labelled Judas Iscariot
Not fit to lace so and so’s boots?

“I’ve followed this club all my life”
Geezer’s having a laugh, must think we’re all daft?

A private jet purrs on the tarmac
On standby to whisk him away
To sign, well in time for next weeks home match
Where us punters will dole out his pay.

When us fools, and our hard earned part ways
As he runs out to play, your programme will say:
“What a wonderful signing we’ve made”.

As worthless shirts bearing his name

Thousands of new shirts will be ordered
For kids and flush punters to buy

We’ll love him, they’ll loathe him
S’how this football lark goes
To us faithful it still don’t make it right
When the market goes up or on maybe a whim
He’ll come and ask us for more dough
Then be off down the road on his bike!
