Taking the Honours

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 An eclipse of the moon and a terrible storm,
And Hallowe’en nearly upon us.
The Devil assumed his unnatural form –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The omens looked back in the week of the game,
I felt from the start we were goners.
The magpie that followed me round was to blame –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Doubts about Georgie, and also O’Flynn,
Or were they just trying to con us?
We wanted a draw, but Cork wanted a win –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But not for the first time, they proved me quite wrong,
This team without big prima donnas.
And behind the defence, we had Willo on song –
And Shelbourne and Cork shared the honours.

Notes

Shels 0 Cork 0 – Another big “win” for Shels!
