The Anfield Phoenix

I’ve been a true red now
For many a year
I’ve watched them through laughter
And sometimes through tears
Grands lads they played with a passion and pride
Bringing titles and cups to the banks of Merseyside
Heighway our winger would’ve graced any team
And the colossus in red the bold Rowdy Yeats
In ’65 Ian St John tamed Herrera’s Milan
Cally and Sir Roger the finest of men
The phoenix that rose from the red Anfield flame
Brought us glory and honour Bill Shankly his name.
