The FA Cup

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 And so the FA cup comes round again
But from getting excited I’ll try to refrain
I guess we’ll be out in the first round or so
It’s par for the course so I don’t think I’ll go.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Oh! How I long for a cup run, the ultimate test
When Wolves as a team were one of the best
No fear of opposition, the cup was a prize
And the magic of the final played before my eyes.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Finlayson, Murray, Stobart and Flowers
Slater and Deeley who had magical powers
Though fifty four years ago, I remember it well
The day we beat Blackburn and Dave Whelan fell.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Now they rest the stars and give the kids a go
Telling ’em “Do your best and put on a show”
But now the games just don’t have the same feel
And for me the cup has lost its appeal.

Notes

For anyone who has never experienced standing on the Wembley terraces for an FA cup final, you can take my word for it, it is an experience you will never forget.
