The Late Great Johnny Rhythm

“Johnny Rhythm” his fans would roar him on
Any stadium he would fill
These cathedrals rocked to his deft passes
Sublime moments of genius
That hung long in the air
And they would practise
Til their cuban heeled boots shredded
Copying him
“Where did he play football as a child?”
They all wanted to know
“Strawberry Fields” said his old scout
“Just down the road from Penny Lane”.
