The Travelling Spaniard

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Hearts start breaking as the deal is done,
This the side of football that isn’t much fun,
He’s one of the greats, it’s a shame to see him leave,
Looks like no one could stop him, not even our Steve.
Still, for him we got plenty, fifty million in cash,
Straight in the bank for King Kenny to splash,
Two strikers already here, surely more on the way,
Maybe a familiar face from the past, that would have made him stay.
I wish him luck, however, even though he’s a blue,
It seems loyalty is worthless these days, but hey, what’s new?
Now I won’t be bitter, that’s what I told myself before,
No matter how many times I see the replay of him walking out the door.
If I were him I’d have probably done the same,
A new club, a new challenge, to him it’s just a game,
More riches, a new house, Europe and the league,
It’s a wonder how he’ll overcome the last two seasons of fatigue.
Good luck in the future, Nando, I hope you do well,
If you’re ever looking to come back just give us a bell,
You’ve proven yourself as one of the greats in such a short time,
You won’t be forgotten too soon, our Spanish number 9.

Notes

Goodbye Nando.
