It was the greatest dream
The amazing unpredictable team
We all wept those same tears
I cried that night, I may for years!
The supporters all turned out in blue, yellow and white
No fear of defeat and ready for the night
I sat at home, chained to the radio set
All my faith diminished, I won a losing bet
It was to be the biggest uphill struggle
Within 16 minutes they were in trouble
He was absent unfairly dismissed
Maybe to win would have been his finest wish?
Half time passed by as quick as a flash
Only 45 minutes left to prove their class
It went from bad to worse, ending in awful
His red card was uncalled for
There can never be another season like this
The league in tatters, the champions league we shall miss
Perhaps they didn’t play to their hearts content
But now it’s over there is nothing more to be said.
