Uruguayan Finishing School
¶ 1

I’m sending my son
to finishing school
in Uruguay.
Yes, Uruguay.
My friends make fun,
say I’m a fool
to run cash dry.
If he could go as far as
that young man who they call Suarez,
my genius none of them could e’er deny.

I’m sending my daughter
to finishing school
In Uruguay.
Yes, Uruguay.
They’ll take her carbon,
make a jewel
who’ll catch the eye.
If I burn out a poor man,
at least I’ll turn out a Forlan,
who’ll maybe play some football in July.

I’m sending my children
to finishing school
in Uruguay.
Yes, Uruguay.
I could have had
a swimming pool.
Now I scrape by.
When they bring football glory,
it’ll be another story.
That’s when the full repayment they’ll supply.
