And all Merseyside, cried out with the hurt.
Nearly anyone else’s, the boy could have worn,
It was no consolation, that he had it torn.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 On seventeen minutes, the defence was torn too,
Ruud slipped him in, and he knew what to do.
Another soon followed – we’d not reached half time,
One more, Rooney thought, and that ball is mine.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 After the break, it was more of the same,
The hat trick was scored, by the Wonderkid Wayne.
In the Champion’s League, he had made his debut,
The fans were ecstatic, the score line 6-2.

Manchester United 6 Fenerbache 2

Wayne Rooney, made his debut for Manchester United in a Champions League match and scored a hat-trick. Ryan Giggs, Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Bellion were also on target.
