On the train from Newcastle and standing in the wet
It always seemed so big then but was probably quite small
But it’s fading into history and time plays tricks on all

It’s a measure of the distance and of our increasing age
Why do we keep on thinking of old times way back when?
We want the answer now but we didn’t know it then

Notes

I’ve been chronicling the disasters of Leeds this year. Before that I was very active on talk of the tyne, the NUFC board on rivals.net, laying into Sunderland on the whole…..but this one was an affectionate glance back at Roker Park and the way the game was then. Ah me!
