William Webb Ellis

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 William Webb Ellis,
Please pray for his soul.
For he is where Hell is.
Revenge takes it’s toll.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He picked up the ball
In a moment of madness.
No-one can recall
Such incredible badness.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He took the most breathtaking
Sport in the land,
And spoiled it by taking
The ball in his hand.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Such sacrilege surely
Condemns him to dwell
Uncleanly, impurely,
Forever, in Hell.

Notes

For those of you too young to remember the occasion, Satan appeared to W.W.Ellis during a football match, causing him to pick up the ball and run with it, thereby inventing the totally ludicrous, incomprehensible and elitist sport of rugby union.
Tis like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
