York City, May ’03
¶ 1
Leave a comment on verse 1 0
Play-off chances gone again
Another fruitless May
Oh-so-close but not to be
It’s a meaningless last day.
¶ 2

Hear the cheers of other teams
Who’ve reached Division Two
Console yourself that next year
We’ll be back in red and blue.
¶ 3
Leave a comment on verse 3 0
Through empty summer days and weeks
Hope slowly heals the pain
It’s not that long till August
And then dreaming starts again.
¶ 4
Leave a comment on verse 4 0
The club is ours; think what we’ve got
To show for our devotion
We live to fight another year –
This time we’ll win promotion.
