It’s (Nearly) That Time Of Year

You wait with anticipation, with baited breath
To find out who you’ve got first match – home,
Or away; will it clash with your summer hols ?
And will it be a local trip on Boxing Day – or
Just another of those irrationally long journies
To some far-flung ground; a fine Christmas gift.

And when will the fans get thought of first,
Or at all – no more midweek jaunts to Sussex
In deepest November; no more stupidly daft
Kick off times – like 5.15 on a Good Friday.
So why not let SKY and the Police decide who
Plays who first, and when…Still, roll on June 22nd.
