This concerns the little bits of black rubber on artificial pitches that cushion your impact on the turf (the ones that end up all over the house etc) ; they have been considered potentially carcinogenic and are a definite pollutant, as identified by the Delaware Riverkeepers who recommend a natural replacement rather than chopped up recycled tyres.
