Support Your Local Team

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 In towns and cities far and wide,
A question stirs, keeps football fans tied,
What defines a supporter, loyal and true?
The answer lies in the miles, just a few.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 From the North to the South, it matters nought,
The team you love, your passion sought,
But for those who wander, far from their home,
A closer club, they ought to have known.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A Southern lad, adoring the Northern game,
Why not support the teams that share his domain?
Are there no local heroes, closer at hand?
I find it hard to grasp, even less to understand.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Every weekend, they journey, near and far,
To watch the teams they’ve embraced from afar,
But five miles, oh so near, that’s where it starts,
The club that’s in your blood, it warms your heart.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 It matters not if they’re mighty or meek,
If they win or lose, or stumble and creak,
Within those five miles, you’ll find your true love,
The team that fits you like a hand in a glove.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So to those fans, who support from afar,
Watching games on screens, in a noisy bar,
Pause and look within, your local domain,
You’ll find your true club, through sunshine and rain.
