Then I can begin
Football leagues of yesterday did
What was on the tin

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 So Division 1 was Division 1
And not The Premiership
And Division 2 was Division 2
And not The Championship

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Division 3 was Division 3
And not called League 1
And Division 4, you get my drift
Was not what it’s become

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 There was football called non league too
With north and south dissected
Teams couldn’t get promoted
They had to get elected

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Have you got that, right let’s
Move on to all the other stuff
I’ll just ignore your comment
That you have heard enough

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The FA cup, you know the one
That used to be in Wales?
Was the biggest thing of all
You might have heard the tales

Until the thing was sorted
Penalties? That’s for wimps
You played until exhausted

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 ‘Course we English were too good
To play with teams abroad
So finally when we did
We died by snooty sword

Without us we’d appeal?
Superior? Brazil, Madrid
Showed us what was real

Though at first in every case
The only way we did it
Was bring ‘em to our place!
