It’s Just A Goal

Those were the days – when you just shook hands,
Or raised an arm, finger pointing high to the skies
A la Law, or Clarke; a singular symbolism but not
Too showy. The goal itself was enough. Now, it’s
A rehearsed free for all – rocking babies, sniffing a
Line, kicking corner flags (very clever). Making a
Gesture is the thing to do, knowing it’s on TV one
Thousand times from all angles – the ego massaged.
