The supporters all yelled

Sure, you might as well let them going clubbing.

It seemed that resistance was token.
Oh how many more
Would the Balkan team score?
Would goalscoring records be broken?

But credit the embattled minnows!
They proved they deserved their inclusion.
They stepped up the pressure,
Looked hungry, looked fresher,
And battled unto the conclusion.

The Croats hung on well, determined,
Though confidence took quite a battering.
They hung on, but still
The score of one nil
Was widely regarded as flattering.
