A Great Stamford Bridge Sigh Of….. Relief!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 In these days of isolation
Where some fans feel cast aside
It’s in a state of exultation
Tinged with gladness that I write.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Left well short of readies
As the credit crunch did bite
I was ticketless and deep in debt
As seasons new dawn came to light.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Me club had tried to draw their gelt
But there was nuffink there
So they sent me two reminders, that they felt
Said “Kev, please pay yer entrance fare”.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Hand on heart, no letters came
Till Friday evening last
Informing me, me seat for Sundays game
Was sold, and payment deadline passed.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Forced to watch the Pompey match on telly
Where it’s never quite the same
With them butterflies fluttering in yer belly
Nervously awaiting, a new season opening game

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Called me club that Monday
Drew a blank response
After putting four great goals past Pompey
I didn’t wanna be left outside our stadium too long.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So a personal note to Mr Kenyon
Sent by post that day
Was an act of this fans total desparation
It’s the honest truth, what else can I say?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 A telephone call this Friday
Told me “Kev we’ve had your letter
You’ll have to miss the first two home games
Then treasured seat is yours again, we can’t do any better”.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 I’ve paid me season ticket up in full
So near normality has returned
I came as close to a Saturday without me football
As I wanted to, much too close, as far as I’m concerned!

Notes

A true story. As one always slagging off the money men, who run or ruin our game. I have to put me hands up here and say that I’m pretty impressed with the way me club Chelsea, handled this, because after all it was my fault that me bank account had sweet FA in it, when the dd’s came in.

Me hand on heart honest letter to the chairman was a long shot…but it worked and I’m well pleased to say I’m proof that there is in our game, still some concern for us cash strapped fan in these days of massive players wages and the like.

peace
