Ashley Cole was less trouble than this ash

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 (hurley girly)

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Ronaldo’s in my back garden!
(metaphorically speaking)
limbering up, warming down
(pre-season tweaking)

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Carton House (in County Kildare)
is where I often stroll
and right now it’s where
Madrid mentors – instruct and cajole

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Ronnie could send a practise free
sailing into what was my back yard
a would be alliterative present:
from boot to ball to bard

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 true enough, poetic license at play
for I’ve moved out a few miles
the countryside beckoned
with hiking over stiles

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 out into GAA country
where soccer is the garrison game
and Ronnie’s attempts with the ash
is seen as very lame

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 “he’ll never make a hurler”
they say with practised eye
and as he swings once more and misses
they tut-tut with a sigh

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 “best he stick’s with that nancy sport-
where the stepovers might suffice
but 80 million greenbacks?
sure we wouldn’t look at him twice!”

Notes

it’s not easy to hit the sliotar with the hurley (made out of ash)

Cristiano gave it a lash

Real Madrid have camped out for their pre-season training at Carton House, Maynooth, in Ireland.

Last night they played Shamrock Rovers in a pre-season friendly.
Rovers acquited themselves well – only losing to a goal from new signing Karim Benzema in the last 3 minutes.

Cristiano played an ineffective first half role, before being subbed at half time.

Tallaght Stadium was a sellout, naturally.
