Debut

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Got my chance, today’s the day – gaffer says
So. Won’t let him down, Running out in green
With the first team, the old stadium bathed in
Sunlight and the gold shirts shimmer. It’s all
Here at last. Got to grab it with both hands.
And hold on, come what may. I’m in, I’m made.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 What am I doing, in the team I cheered to high
Heaven not so long ago. School was boring.
Careers ? There’s only one – out there on the
Pitch. And it came true. The youth team was fun.
The reserves was hard work. This is the real
Thing. Regular keeper’s injured, it’s my time now.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Off we troop, not good at all. They swamped
Us, too fast, too hard. Internationals all eleven.
We didn’t stand a chance. Skipper’s consoling,
Fans give us the bird, The Boss, well – he just
Skulked off somewhere. We dripped wet, dead
Knackered. Kept my place next game, we won…
