Our day seemed a perfect one
Then our Ivorian ace threw one almighty strop
With the business deemed as done.

Who cares? As us punters say
Is one man bigger than our entire team?
Were we watching a one-man game?

Our squad saw we came out top
As Shankly said “Football’s pretty simple”
Back when egos were swiftly chopped.

Once again have slipped through our hands?

Eyes fixed toward one-man fame.
