You Need Hands
¶ 1

Before the match we
tried to imagine
what the handshake
would be like:
A quick, perfunctory
pump perhaps or
maybe no more than
a fleeting touch?
Eyes of both likely
to be elsewhere.
What we would never
have predicted, though
was that Suarez would
choose to ignore a man
he had wronged already.
Evra’s olive branch severed
before it had even had a
chance to be extended.
Suarez’ puerile preening
rightly condemned.
