Football, bloody hell!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The stage was set for a magnificent treble.
Barcelona, the Nou Camp, the European Cup Final.
Billy and Joe went to see.
‘But there’s no ticket for me,’
cried Billy.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They spent the day battling with the touts,
It almost put them to the rout.
But Billy managed to find one,
Of course for the most expensive sum.
‘Well, there goes a month of pay,
No treats for the Missis today.’

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 So then they got into the stately ground,
They sat in their seats, and looked around.
All set for kick off,
Surely there would be no up cough.
‘We’ve come so far,
We won’t be below par.’

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Except there was an early goal,
And it did not go to the English Cole.
Before half-time, no victory to be seen,
After half-time, still no sunbeam.
‘I’ll go and have a booze,
Instead of staying here, to see them lose.’

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And Billy and Joe left the stadium.
There was far less noise than the London Palladium.
They went to the bar,
And never saw the star.
‘A month of pay,
Has gone today.’

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So then the substitutes came on,
And they were second to none.
Two more minutes, two more goals,
And this time the noise could be heard at the Poles.
But Billy and Joe in ignorance stayed,
For their eyes had not been repaid.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 The cup was won,
And the treble was done.
The medals were given,
The noise on driven.
But Billy and Joe never saw,
As Schmeical held the cup with his great big paw.
