Silence Is Cambodian!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When yer going into one there in yer living room
From the excitement that goes with the match
Spare a thought for the poor forty thousand
Buddhist monks in Cambodia
Who’ve the buzz but can’t open their traps

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “This World Cup football fever violates
The serenity that they must cultivate
It’s not good for the monks to make noise
So in future if they must take in matches and lose it big time
They can do so in silence indoors”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 In Phnom Penh today as the multitudes prayed
Supreme Patriarch Non Ngeth was blunt
“It all works out okay when its Brazil turn to play
And they manage to get their noses in front
But there’s blue murder, mayhem
And bad feeling amongst the boys in their habits
If the other team get back in the hunt”!

Notes

Terrific story this, the forty thousand buddhist monks in Cambodia can only watch the World Cup matches if they do so in silence, which they haven’t been doing!

They’ve been going off their nuts with the wonderful excitement of it all, just like the rest of us! How do you watch the match in silence?

There’s very nearly a tear up every time we all watch the live football together as a family in our house!

peace.
