So Mr.Newell your comments so cruel
On women who referee games
You’ve abused a fair lino, who as far as I know
Never put a foot wrong, what a shame

What about the way that most men
Put in charge of our games
Are hardly doing their jobs
With any credence or kind of aplomb?

The game must change or roll over and die
As the modern age comes in to view
And women with whistles, brandishing cards
Are a step backward? If we all think like you do

Players manners may get better if told what to do
By a model of her sat indoors
And the language and antics of ex pro’s just like you
Might be banished for once and for all

This is nothing to do with political correctness
Or patronizing yon fairer sex
But the men of today, put in charge of our games
Are making errors that we need to correct

If something isn’t working then change it
That’s what we’d do in real life(sic)
Who knows one day the sweet FA might arrange it
That a games run by a husband and wife?

Lets all embrace change for the better
We all moan that something needs to be done
A game that’s flowing is what those of us going
Each week to to watch, would welcome with our arms open

Imagine them old geezers at Soho Square
Having heard from a bird, of sending a bloke off for a fowl (sic)*
What a way to shake up those archaic wastes of space
Who’ve let our game get in the state, it is now!
