I am proud to say that Gary Speed played for my club.
He was once described by Sir Bobby Robson
As a ‘blue chip player’, a proper footballer.
Admired by all, from the ordinary fan like myself
To his closet friends and family.
Gary Speed captained my football club.
A true leader of men in that black and white shirt.
An inspiration wearing the white of Leeds United
And Bolton Wanderers, And the royal blue of Everton.
A man of steel in the steel city of Sheffield
Wearing those red and white stripes of the Blades.
And of course with added pride, this prince of Wales
In the red shirt of his country. God bless you Gary Speed.
