Alan McLoughlin Gets us to America [1993]

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Ireland could not equalise,
Bingham had us on the ropes.
Joy in our near-neighbours’ eyes,
Banishing our U.S. hopes.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Where our superstars had failed,
Alan relished the occasion.
Where some bigger nerves had failed,
His now balanced the equation.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Never one to be the bride,
Content with a supporting role,
Called at last into the side
And scored the all-important goal.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Took the corner in his stride,
Rifled it into the net.
Hail the shy and blushing bride!
Alan, we will ne’er forget.
